About the role#
Reporting to the Process Engineer, this co-op position provides technical leadership to optimize cost, quality, productivity, and reliability. You will work on-site in Hawkesbury, Ontario, in a full-time capacity. You will lead teams of hourly employees and staff to develop standard operating procedures and drive continuous improvement.
What you'll do#
- Design, install, and commission new production units while monitoring upgrades and troubleshooting existing processes.
- Assess the relevance of processes and the adequacy of engineering equipment.
- Evaluate raw material availability and the environmental impact of the plant.
- Collaborate with the plant engineer to monitor and improve efficiency, output, and safety.
- Ensure production processes run at optimal levels to meet supply needs.
- Collect and interpret data from technical and operating staff through direct observation and measurement.
- Develop and implement standardized processes to improve operational efficiency.
- Conduct audits and implement 5S methodologies to enhance workplace organization.
- Oversee environmental monitoring and the performance of plant processes.
- Partner with operators to monitor quality control for raw materials, finished products, and production schedules.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering.
- A solid understanding of TQM and TPM principles.
- Basic detail and conceptual design skills.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Experience managing projects within cost and scheduling constraints.
- Ability to monitor and generate process reports.
- Skills in project implementation from initial planning to completion.
- Knowledge of PLCs, specifically ControlLogix or RS logic, is preferred.
