About the role#
This is a 10-week, full-time internship within the Energy Efficiency Division, beginning in early June 2027. Interns support utility programs by working on multiple projects alongside staff members. This role offers exposure to major projects, interaction with clients, and the chance to apply academic knowledge to consulting tasks. You may indicate a preference for Operations or Delivery roles in your application materials.
What you'll do#
- Collect and analyze data, while maintaining Excel spreadsheets and databases.
- Prepare internal and client deliverables, including semi-annual reports.
- Document processes and develop improvements or automation.
- Support Program Delivery teams with client presentations and program results.
- Develop opportunities to support client clean energy goals.
- Coordinate with implementation teams and communicate with participating service providers.
- Review technical specifications and calculations for energy efficiency measures.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least 30 college-level credit hours by the start date.
- Coursework in energy, environment, business, economics, or engineering is preferred.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with project management principles.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented approach with good time-management habits.
Location & details#
- The role is based in Columbia, Maryland, or remote from Virginia, South Carolina, or Georgia.
- Hybrid work is available in Columbia, Maryland, with a minimum of two days per week in the office.
- Remote roles in VA, SC, or GA include occasional opportunities for in-person meetings.
- This is a paid position at $23 per hour.
- No relocation or housing assistance is available.
