About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience supporting the Administrative Operations Services Meetings and Events team. You will work alongside certified professionals to plan, coordinate, and execute a variety of meetings and events. These range from small internal gatherings to large-scale conferences and corporate events. This is a 10-week, full-time position for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Support planning and coordination for in-person, virtual, and hybrid events.
- Assist with venue research, supplier coordination, and proposal comparisons.
- Manage event logistics, including visitor registration, catering, audio-visual needs, and materials.
- Participate in planning meetings to document decisions, action items, and project updates.
- Help with budget tracking, expense reconciliation, and event reporting.
- Maintain event records and project files.
- Support conference center operations and onsite execution as needed.
- Conduct research to identify best practices and process improvements.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and service providers to ensure successful delivery.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least 30 college-level credit hours in Hospitality Management, Event Management, Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, Project Management, or Tourism by the start date.
- Preference for candidates with a completed bachelor's degree or at least 9 credit hours in a related graduate program.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Experience with event planning, hospitality, or project coordination through coursework, student organizations, or volunteer activities.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, or event registration tools.
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate across diverse groups.
