About the role#
This is a 10-week, full-time internship starting in early June 2027. You will join the Disaster Management Division, which helps government agencies and communities design and run grant programs for disaster recovery and resilience. This role is paid and follows a hybrid work model.
What you'll do#
- Assist management with financial tasks, grant administration, and reporting.
- Review data accuracy within systems and written documents.
- Support project delivery and task management.
- Design data visualizations and reporting solutions, from initial extraction to final presentation.
- Communicate with clients and contractors to gather information and track deadlines.
- Help case managers and specialists move applicants through the review or implementation process.
- Research special initiatives and assist in drafting standard operating procedures, policies, and checklists.
What you'll need#
- A minimum of 30 completed college credit hours in Public Policy, Finance, Emergency Management, Homeland Security, or a related field.
- Preferred: A completed bachelor's degree and current enrollment in a graduate program in a relevant field.
- Prior internship experience in Disaster Management or with FEMA.
- Strong skills in MS Office, specifically Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
- Experience with research, data entry, and analyzing information.
- Ability to write detailed procedural materials and guidance.
- Proficiency in GIS or other mapping platforms.
- Strong time management, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Locations: Tallahassee, FL; Austin, TX; or Baton Rouge, LA.
- This role is hybrid. We do not provide relocation or housing assistance.
