About the role#
IBM is hiring an intern for Site Reliability Engineering and Networking Reliability Engineering. You will gain hands-on experience managing enterprise IT systems while learning modern reliability practices. You will work alongside experienced professionals to support infrastructure operations, automation, and performance initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Maintain and support enterprise IT systems, including servers, virtual machines, and cloud environments.
- Monitor system performance and help identify reliability issues.
- Support automation for routine tasks using scripting tools.
- Participate in incident response and post-incident analysis.
- Document system configurations, operational procedures, and reliability metrics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure and service delivery.
- Configure and maintain network devices like routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity, including DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and routing.
- Resolve latency or packet loss issues and validate firewall rules.
- Participate in network performance analysis and reporting.
What you'll need#
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, Go, or Java.
- Understanding of Linux operating systems and cloud computing fundamentals.
- Knowledge of networking concepts, APIs, and distributed systems.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and container technologies like Kubernetes.
- Exposure to monitoring, observability tools, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with Git and modern software development practices.
- Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering principles.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
