About the role#
As a Site Reliability Engineer Intern, you will join a team focused on building, deploying, and maintaining systems for IBM client business. You will work in a collaborative environment to manage the problem resolution process, ranging from initial analysis to the deployment of software fixes.
What you'll do#
- Monitor the health of production systems and services around the clock.
- Work with engineering teams to assess and provide workarounds for production issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Use Continuous Delivery tools to deploy services and configuration changes.
- Apply security patches and system upgrades.
- Coordinate with Product support to resolve outstanding issues.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Knowledge of Linux operating systems and cloud providers like IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience or knowledge of Python, Go, or Bash scripting.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes or OpenShift environments.
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to craft alerts and dashboards using tools like Instana, New Relic, Grafana, or Prometheus.
- Understanding of day-to-day operations including incident support, alert management, and break-fix tasks.
- Interest in maintaining SQL, NoSQL, and data streaming technologies.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- The role is based in the United States with a hybrid work arrangement.
- The term is Summer 2027, with start dates aligned to your academic calendar.
