About the role#
As a Site Reliability Engineer Intern, you will help build and maintain reliable, scalable, and efficient systems. You will work alongside development and operations teams to design infrastructure that supports mission-critical applications. This role offers the chance to gain hands-on experience in the SRE discipline while contributing to the systems that support IBM technology.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement automation for deployment, monitoring, and incident response.
- Maintain and improve system reliability, availability, and performance.
- Collaborate with software engineers to ensure services are resilient and scalable.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident management.
- Contribute to documentation and best practices for reliability engineering.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 0.5 to 1 year of experience in software development, systems administration, or DevOps.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Go, or Java.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix systems and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
- Exposure to monitoring and observability tools, including Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with effective verbal and written communication.
