About the role#
As a Site Reliability Engineer Intern, you will work within a team to build, deploy, configure, and maintain systems for IBM clients. You will manage the problem resolution process, ranging from initial analysis and troubleshooting to deploying software updates and fixes.
What you'll do#
- Monitor the health of production systems and services around the clock.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to provide initial assessments and workarounds for production issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
- Deploy services and configuration changes at enterprise scale using CI/CD tools.
- Apply security patches and system upgrades.
- Work with Product support teams to resolve issues.
- Analyze system performance to improve reliability.
- Automate production environment changes to streamline processes and reduce manual work.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering program.
- Knowledge of Linux operating systems.
- Experience or understanding of day-to-day operations, including alert management, incident support, migration tasks, and break-fix support.
- Proficiency in Python, Go, or Bash.
- Familiarity with cloud providers such as IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with Kubernetes or OpenShift environments.
- Knowledge of Ansible, Terraform, and CI/CD tools like Jenkins, IBM Continuous Delivery, or ArgoCD.
- Experience creating alerts and dashboards using tools such as Instana, New Relic, or Grafana/Prometheus.
- Interest in maintaining SQL, NoSQL, and data streaming technologies like PostgreSQL, CouchDB, Redis, Kafka, or Spark.
