About the role#
As a Hardware Developer Intern, you will work on the systems that drive the quantum revolution and the AI era. You will join a team of engineering professionals focused on pioneering innovations for microprocessors and hardware used in IBM infrastructure, including IBM zSystems, Power Systems, Storage, and Quantum Systems.
What you'll do#
- Develop, test, and provide customer support for hardware, firmware, and semiconductors.
- Participate in Logic (RTL) design and verification.
- Contribute to physical design and analog/IO design.
- Engage in electronic design automation.
- Perform signal integrity, power integrity, and analysis.
- Work on circuit design and electrical design.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Expertise in microprocessor or ASIC design.
- Coursework in VLSI Design, Microprocessors, Computer Architecture and Organization, and Signal Integrity.
- Programming proficiency in C/C++ or another object-oriented language.
- Scripting proficiency in Python, APDL, TCL, Bash, Perl, or Java.
- Familiarity with Git, Linux, debuggers like GDB, and Agile practices.
- Proficiency in CAD tools and 3D modeling.
- Knowledge of hardware architectures including VLSI, FPGA, MIPS, RISC-V, Arm, x86, Arduino, and Quantum systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A growth-minded, team-focused, and resourceful approach to work.
- Preferred: At least three months of experience designing or manufacturing hardware products.
- Preferred: Basic knowledge of computer hardware, programming languages, hardware description languages, and circuit simulation tools.
