About the role#
We are looking for an intern to join our Excess & Surplus Business Unit in Scottsdale for the summer of 2027. This is a paid, full-time position running from May 24th to July 30th. You will work in a hybrid environment, with in-office days from Monday through Wednesday and remote flexibility on Thursday and Friday.
What you'll do#
- Learn core underwriting functions and gain insight into the Commercial Property and Casualty business.
- Review insurance applications, inspection reports, and loss information to make recommendations to underwriters.
- Assist with the rating of accounts.
- Shadow underwriters and participate in team meetings.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- You are a rising undergraduate junior or senior pursuing a degree in Finance, Mathematics, or Business Administration.
- You possess analytical thinking skills and the ability to solve problems.
- You have basic spreadsheet skills and familiarity with the Microsoft Suite of products.
- You can communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members.
- You are able to work independently.
- You must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Location & details#
- Location: Scottsdale, Arizona.
- This role requires you to work from our local office without relocation or housing assistance.
- You must be available for the full 10-week duration of the program.
