About the role#
Retail Pharmacy Interns gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting while working toward their pharmacy degree. You will work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist to assist with daily operations and patient care.
What you'll do#
- Provide prompt and friendly customer service.
- Fill and process prescriptions under pharmacist supervision.
- Prepare prescriptions and affix labels to containers.
- Report medication errors to the appropriate personnel.
- Manage inventory by ordering, stocking, checking invoices, and entering data.
- Assist with monthly inventory counts.
- Follow all security and regulatory procedures, including Quality Assurance Programs.
- Help train pharmacy employees.
- Keep the pharmacy and dispensing area clean.
- Maintain customer confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
- Work with your team to follow standard operating procedures and store policies.
- Assist in other areas of the store and take on special projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Active registration with the State Pharmacy Board as an intern.
- Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred.
- Ability to perform arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations.
- Ability to interact professionally with patients, healthcare providers, and team members.
