About the role#
Retail Pharmacy Interns gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting while working toward their pharmacy degree. You will work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist to assist with daily operations, inventory, and patient care.
What you'll do#
- Provide prompt, friendly customer service.
- Fill and process prescriptions under pharmacist supervision.
- Prepare prescriptions and affix labels to containers.
- Report any medication errors to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist with inventory control and monthly inventory counts.
- Follow security and regulatory procedures, including Quality Assurance Programs.
- Help train pharmacy employees.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the pharmacy and dispensing area.
- Protect the confidentiality of customer medical information.
- Work with co-workers as a team and assist in other store areas as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Registration with the State Pharmacy Board as an intern.
- A professional license or certification.
- Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred.
- Ability to perform arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations.
- Ability to interact professionally with patients and healthcare providers.
