About the role#
Retail Pharmacy Interns gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting while working toward their pharmacy degree. You will work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist to assist with daily operations, inventory management, and patient care.
What you'll do#
- Fill and process prescriptions under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
- Prepare prescriptions and affix labels to containers.
- Provide prompt and friendly customer service.
- Assist with inventory control, including ordering, stocking, and checking invoices.
- Conduct monthly inventory counts.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the pharmacy and dispensing area.
- Report any medication errors to the appropriate personnel.
- Help train pharmacy employees.
- Maintain the confidentiality of private medical information in accordance with HIPAA.
- Assist in other areas of the store as needed.
- Follow all security and regulatory procedures, including Quality Assurance Programs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Valid registration with the State Pharmacy Board as an intern.
- Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred.
- Ability to perform arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations accurately.
- Ability to apply logical and scientific thinking to solve problems.
- Capability to compose original correspondence, follow technical manuals, and evaluate technical data.
- Ability to count, pour, package, and label medications.
- Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift.
- Ability to perform repetitive reaching, bending, standing, and walking.
