About the role#
The Engineering Co-op Student reports to the Senior Mine Engineer within Technical Services. You will apply your engineering knowledge to support both Engineering and Operations teams at the Copper Mountain Mine. This role offers hands-on experience across survey, drill and blast, planning, and data management. This is a temporary, full-time position for the Winter 2027 term, operating on a 7-on-7-off rotation of 12-hour day shifts.
What you'll do#
- Support the mine safety culture by participating in daily and monthly safety meetings.
- Adhere to all PPE requirements, company policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Assist with survey data collection, processing, and interpretation.
- Help with drill pattern design, blast planning, monitoring, and post-blast analysis.
- Contribute to short-term planning tasks including design, scheduling, and data analysis.
- Participate in field investigations and monitoring for various operational studies.
- Perform quality assurance and quality control on collected data.
- Prepare reports and summaries for stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a University Mining Engineering degree program, 2nd year or above.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- A valid Class 5 or 7N British Columbia driver's license and access to personal transportation.
- Ability to work independently and as an effective team member.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain focus.
- Eligibility to work in Canada and confirmation of educational requirements.
- Willingness to meet pre-employment testing requirements.
- Open-pit mining experience, as well as experience with SQL, Python, and Surpac, are considered assets.

- Location: Princeton, British Columbia, Canada.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Conditions: The role involves frequent exposure to noise, dust, and wet environments. You must be able to meet physical demands including heavy lifting up to 50 lbs, walking on uneven footing, and working in awkward positions.
