About the role#
The Distributor Operations Intern will support our North American and International distributor operations. You will gain hands-on experience with order flow, operational documentation, distributor compliance, and supply chain communication. This role reports to the Operations Systems and Process Improvement Manager and involves working on real projects related to supplier handbooks, EDI performance, inventory coordination, and distributor scorecard reporting.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate recurring touchpoints with distributor supply chain and operations teams.
- Communicate updates on backorders, product availability, and alternative product solutions.
- Track open orders, shipment status, labeling issues, and shipment resolutions.
- Monitor distributor inventory levels to flag potential stockout or overstock risks.
- Analyze order patterns to identify trends or emerging constraints.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain and Category Management on capacity and forecast questions.
- Review and update Supplier Handbooks and communicate shipping requirement changes to the Warehouse team.
- Monitor EDI order flow performance and support issue tracking.
- Partner with internal teams to assist with process improvement efforts.
- Track distributor compliance with shipping terms and monitor pricing structure adherence.
- Maintain and update distributor scorecards by tracking KPIs and operational performance data.
- Organize and maintain distributor agreements and documentation.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field.
- Interest in ERP and EDI systems.
- Strong analytical skills with an interest in identifying trends and operational risks.
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate across internal and external teams.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational ability, and comfort managing multiple priorities.
Location & details#
- Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan (On-site).
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm.
- Duration: 14 weeks beginning May 17, 2027.
- Compensation: Paid internship.
