About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience for students completing their university requirements. You will work in a professional facility and gain exposure to the daily operations of health and wellness services. This is a full-time position based in Philadelphia.
What you'll do#
- Provide supervision and wellness guidance to facility members.
- Perform fitness evaluations and interpret test data to prescribe cardiovascular and strength programs.
- Assist in compiling participation data and generating reports.
- Develop and implement at least one special program or event.
- Contribute to marketing efforts for fitness services through newsletters, table events, and other outreach.
- Support staff with general office duties and attend scheduled meetings.
- Shadow personal trainers and participate in teaching group exercise classes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior, Senior, or Master's level student in Kinesiology, Health Administration, Public Health, Physical Education, or a related field.
- Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification.
- Strong communication skills to instruct and interact with diverse groups.
- Experience performing fitness evaluations.
- Personal Training or Group Exercise certification is preferred but not required.
