About the role#
Health Research, Inc. is hiring an Hourly Project Assistant II for the Metropolitan Area Region Office Regional Epidemiology Program. This role is part of the Pathways to Public Health Internship Program. You will work alongside a regional epidemiologist to support the surveillance and control of Legionella cases. This is a full-time, grant-funded position expected to last through November 27, 2026.
What you'll do#
- Review laboratory reports and surveillance data from public health systems to monitor disease trends and clusters.
- Conduct data quality assessments and validation activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Create standardized surveillance reports, dashboards, and data summaries.
- Support epidemiologic investigations, including outbreak response and case follow-up.
- Communicate findings and operational insights through reports and presentations.
- Coordinate specimen submissions with the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or completion of a degree, certificate, or training program in a field such as Public Health, Biology, Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Health Administration, or Biomedical Sciences.
- Experience with data analysis and management using Excel, SAS, or R.
- Experience with public health data management systems, communicable disease investigations, or clinical laboratory testing.
Location & details#
- Location: New Rochelle, New York.
- Modality: This position is fully on-site. Telecommuting is not permitted.
- Travel: Up to 10% travel is required.
- Compensation: $20.00 per hour, plus a pro-rated downstate adjustment for Westchester County.
- Sponsorship: Visa sponsorship is not available. You must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
