About the role#
The Event and Promotions Intern supports the behind-the-scenes operations of Hartford Athletic. You will act as a brand ambassador for the Club by assisting with gameday experiences, community outreach, and the mascot program. This role involves a mix of stadium work, community events, and office tasks. You will report to the Event and Promotions Supervisor.
What you'll do#
- Attend Men’s and Women’s First Team home matches, including regular season, tournament, and playoff games.
- Deliver gameday fan experiences like halftime challenges, ball kid coordination, and post-match activities.
- Serve as a mascot handler for Dillon, which includes communicating on the mascot's behalf in a non-verbal environment.
- Provide crowd control for on-field activations.
- Staff community appearances at schools, watch parties, and partner events.
- Handle the setup, breakdown, and transport of equipment for matches and events.
- Engage with guests at promotional tables to share information about the team and academy.
- Capture photo and video content of Dillon and brainstorm social media ideas.
- Maintain mascot collateral and inventory.
- Plan and distribute promotional materials.
- Manage your availability in the scheduling system and submit reimbursement requests.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate or graduate student status or a desire to volunteer.
- Interest in the sports industry and an understanding of the Club.
- Charismatic, outgoing, and approachable personality.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and interact with fans of all ages.
- Positive attitude and a problem-solving mindset.
- Availability for the full semester, including weekdays and weekends.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Reliable transportation.
- Comfort representing the mascot program.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Majors in Marketing, Communications, or Business Administration are preferred.
