About the role#
The Operations Engineering Intern supports manufacturing, maintenance, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives at our Fridley facility. You will gain hands-on experience in a production environment by leading projects that improve equipment reliability, operational efficiency, safety, and product quality. This role involves collaborating with production, maintenance, quality, engineering, and EHS teams to identify opportunities and implement sustainable improvements.
What you'll do#
- Support Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.
- Assist with maintenance and reliability projects, including preventive maintenance optimization, asset management, and critical spare parts strategies.
- Analyze production, maintenance, and quality data to identify trends, solve problems, and drive operational improvements.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, equipment drawings, process flow diagrams, and P&IDs.
- Lead cross-functional projects and present recommendations and results to site leadership.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Rising junior or senior standing in one of these engineering disciplines.
- Comfort working in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is preferred.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Minitab software is a plus.
