About the role#
As an IT Service Desk Intern, you will gain hands-on experience by supporting the technology needs of our offices and jobsites. This position begins as a part-time role in Winter 2027 and transitions to full-time during Summer 2027. You will work directly with our IT team to solve technical issues, manage assets, and help our employees stay productive.
What you'll do#
- Provide first-level support for technology issues via phone, email, Teams, and walk-up requests.
- Create, categorize, and route tickets within the ITSM platform.
- Assist with password resets, account unlocks, and basic access requests.
- Set up and image workstations for new hires.
- Support the deployment of laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
- Track hardware inventory and manage IT assets.
- Document common issues to build our knowledge base.
- Monitor ticket queues to ensure requests are assigned and updated.
- Assist with Microsoft 365 support and technology rollouts.
- Escalate complex issues to senior staff or specialized teams.
- Learn and apply ITIL principles for incident management.
- Shadow senior analysts to develop your troubleshooting and customer service skills.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
- Strong interest in technical support and customer service.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proactive problem-solving abilities and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team.
- High attention to detail.
- Comfort learning new software applications and business systems.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications.
- Understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and basic networking.
- Experience with ticketing systems or help desk environments is a plus.
