About the role#
As an Assistant Project Engineer Intern, you will work on-site to support project managers and field teams. This role provides a realistic experience where you take on meaningful responsibilities and contribute to active construction projects. You will be part of a team that manages daily operations and ensures project success.
What you'll do#
- Support project managers and field teams with project documentation, scheduling, and daily coordination.
- Review project drawings and specifications to ensure they align with project goals.
- Track and document project progress, including daily logs and material deliveries.
- Participate in on-site meetings to observe real-time problem-solving and decision-making.
- Prepare RFIs and submittals to help meet project milestones.
- Maintain project safety standards by observing and reporting on-site conditions.
- Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to support procurement and logistics.
What you'll need#
- You are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in building construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and a self-starter mentality.
- Ability to work full-time.
- Comfort with technology and a willingness to learn new software.
- A strong work ethic and the ability to focus on details while seeing the big picture.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time internship.
- Placements are available in Grand Rapids, MI, Kalamazoo, MI, and Mt. Pleasant, MI.
- The internship follows a rolling term.
