About the role#
As an Assistant Project Engineer Intern, you will work on-site to gain experience similar to a full-time employee. You will support project managers and field teams with daily operations and contribute to projects on the Henry Ford College campus.
What you'll do#
- Support project managers and field teams by assisting in project documentation, scheduling, and coordination of daily activities.
- Review project drawings and specifications to ensure alignment with project goals and compliance with industry standards.
- Track and document project progress, including daily logs, material deliveries, and work completed.
- Participate in on-site meetings to gain exposure to real-time problem-solving and decision-making.
- Assist in the preparation of RFIs and submittals to ensure project milestones are met.
- Contribute to maintaining project safety standards by observing and reporting on-site conditions.
- Engage with subcontractors and suppliers, supporting procurement and logistics activities.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in building construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to work full-time.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities with the capability to lead by example.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and a self-starter mentality.
- High emotional intelligence and the ability to build rapport with diverse individuals.
- Proficiency in construction management software like ProCore, ViewPoint, or Microsoft Project.
- Comfort with technology and a willingness to learn new software.
- A strong work ethic with dedication to meeting deadlines.

- This is a paid, full-time internship.
