The Student Researcher Program facilitates academic collaborations by placing students on research projects aligned with scientific advancement. You will work across various Google teams, including Google Research, Google DeepMind, and Google Cloud, to develop solutions for real-world, large-scale problems. This role is exploratory in nature, focusing on innovative research challenges and the creation of breakthrough technologies.
What you'll do#

What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a PhD degree in Computer Science, Linguistics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Natural Sciences, or a related technical field.
- Currently enrolled in a full-time degree program and returning to the program after the internship.
- Experience in one area of computer science, such as Natural Language Understanding, Human Computer Interaction, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or similar fields.
- Experience as a researcher, including internships or lab experience.
- Proficiency with one or more general-purpose programming languages, such as Python, Java, JavaScript, or C/C++.
- English proficiency is required for global collaboration.
Location & details#
- Locations: Waterloo, ON; Montreal, QC; or Toronto, ON.
- Modality: On-site.
- Term: Rolling basis with start dates typically between January and July 2026.
- Status: This is a paid, full-time internship. It is non-conversion eligible, intended for students who will return to their studies after completion.
