About the role#
Geotab is seeking an Embedded Developer Intern for a 4-month term beginning in January 2027. This full-time, paid position involves working with our Embedded Development, Software, and Test teams to support the functionality and testing of our hardware devices.
What you'll do#
- Develop an understanding of Geotab devices, including GO and IOX units, and their integration with other modules.
- Implement new logic for our test automation framework using Python, C, SQL, and potentially RUST.
- Write SQL queries and Python scripts to interact with Google BigQuery to analyze device health.
- Build, maintain, and enhance tools that automate testing processes.
- Create tools and dashboards to analyze device data and behavior.
- Perform system-level testing and manage test coverage and environments.
What you'll need#
- Currently completing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of programming languages used in embedded software development, specifically C, C++, RUST, or Python.
- Familiarity with SQL and database queries.
- Understanding of OS concepts, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns relevant to embedded systems.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate technical information clearly.
Location & details#
- This is a hybrid role based in Oakville or Waterloo, Ontario.
- The internship is a full-time, 4-month commitment starting in January 2027.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada for the duration of the internship.
