About the role#
Geosyntec Consultants is hiring an intern or co-op student for our Johnson City, Tennessee office. This is a full-time position for 13 to 15 weeks during the winter or summer of 2027. You will apply your academic knowledge of civil, geotechnical, and water resources engineering to real-world projects in the dams and levees industry.
What you'll do#
- Perform engineering calculations using computer-based tools.
- Write technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
- Manage data input and analysis, including the preparation of maps, tables, and figures.
- Work with engineers, geologists, administrative staff, CADD operators, and contractors.
- Conduct fieldwork such as soil and groundwater sampling, dam or levee inspections, and drilling oversight.
- Travel to project sites using personal, company, or rental vehicles.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in civil, environmental, geotechnical, or water resources engineering.
- Strong academic record and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Valid U.S. driver's license with a satisfactory driving record and reliable transportation.
- Experience with ArcView, CADD, or Microsoft Office is preferred.
- Previous experience with geotechnical analysis is a plus.
