About the role#
We are hiring a Civil/Geotechnical Engineering Technician for a full-time internship during the summer of 2027. You will support office engineers and project managers with daily tasks while gaining hands-on field experience. This position is based in Boston, Massachusetts, and requires a commitment of 4 or more consecutive months starting in May or June 2027.
What you'll do#
- Support on-site health and safety protocols.
- Perform field work on construction projects, including soil and groundwater sampling, in-situ density testing, and monitoring earthwork and foundation construction.
- Visit job sites to assist with construction monitoring.
- Help plan and execute site characterization and subsurface investigations for infrastructure and development projects.
- Communicate with project teams and write field reports.
- Review design drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
- Evaluate subsurface geotechnical and environmental data.
- Collect instrumentation data.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least 2 years of an undergraduate or graduate degree in civil, geotechnical, or environmental engineering.
- Strong initiative and a desire to learn.
- Ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively.
- Proficiency in MS Office software.
- A valid driver's license is highly preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Boston, Massachusetts.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour.
- Physical requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs of equipment, walk on uneven ground, and work outdoors on industrial sites in various weather conditions. The role involves early morning shifts and requires travel to sites within the Greater Boston area.
