About the role#
GenScript is hiring a full-time Payroll Tax Intern to support our payroll tax operations. This position is based on-site in Piscataway, New Jersey, and is expected to last between 6 and 12 months. The role requires a Monday through Friday schedule, from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with 4 days per week spent on-site.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local payroll tax filings.
- Reconcile payroll tax liabilities against payroll registers and general ledger accounts.
- Monitor multi-state tax registrations and track updates to state and local tax rates, wage bases, and jurisdictional requirements.
- Assist with quarterly and annual payroll tax reconciliations.
- Identify and troubleshoot payroll tax discrepancies or notices from tax agencies.
- Complete ad-hoc projects and duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration program.
- Ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a team.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel.
- A self-driven approach to work and the ability to operate independently.
- Mandarin Chinese language skills are preferred but not required.
