About the role#
This co-op position is part of an Agile Scrum team responsible for developing software and controls for exterior and interior vehicle lighting. You will work on software development and testing, contributing to features used in vehicles globally. This role offers the chance to own deliverables from end-to-end and learn from embedded development experts.
What you'll do#
- Design, implement, and integrate complex embedded software systems using hand-coded C.
- Collaborate with product managers and testers using BDD and TDD frameworks.
- Develop and maintain unit tests and multicomponent tests.
- Execute automated tests in simulation and hardware-in-loop environments to validate requirements.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and team meetings.
- Learn and apply system-level test methodologies to support new product development.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) for a 12 to 16 month term starting in January 2027.
- Proficiency in Embedded C and Python.
- Understanding of embedded controls software and automated software build processes.
- Familiarity with automotive communication technologies including CAN, LIN, and SPI.
- Enrollment in a co-op program and legal entitlement to work in Canada.

- Location: Markham, Ontario.
- Modality: Hybrid (requires reporting to the Markham or Oshawa Elevation Centre at least three times per week).
- Term: Winter 2027.
- Compensation: Monthly salary range of $4,264.00 to $4,784.00.
