About the role#
The COLUMBIA Strategic Construction Program Office manages the transition from construction startup to serial production for the Navy's top acquisition priority. Interns contribute to the execution of the program by collaborating with engineering, planning, contracts, purchasing, and operations teams. You will work on real-time projects and gain exposure to program management tasks while interacting with personnel ranging from front-line teams to executive leadership.
What you'll do#
- Assist with program man-power planning and oversight.
- Support program contracts oversight and execution.
- Monitor urgent and future material availability.
- Work with design and planning products, including design changes and product consumption.
- Track ship construction schedules and spatial planning.
- Review new facility requirements and planning.
- Analyze construction performance and schedule adherence.
- Utilize earned value management practices.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Construction, Manufacturing, Engineering Management, Naval Architecture, or any engineering discipline.
- Completion of your Freshman year prior to the start of the internship.
- US citizenship.
- Ability to pass a medically supervised drug screen and background check.
- Availability to work 40 hours per week for at least eight consecutive weeks between May 2027 and September 2027.
- Minimum age of 18.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site position based in Groton, Connecticut.
- The internship takes place during the Summer 2027 term.
- You are responsible for arranging your own housing and transportation.
- This is a paid, full-time internship.
