About the role#
This is a full-time, paid co-op position for the Winter 2027 term. You will join the System-of-Systems (SoS) Systems Engineering team in Calgary, working on the Land Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (LC5ISR) program. This role involves defining the architecture and design of tactical communication and networking systems used by the Canadian Armed Forces.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the Department of National Defence to define operational requirements and capabilities.
- Create activity, sequence, use case, and block definition diagrams to map out mission scenarios.
- Develop system requirements, interface specifications, and end-to-end information flows.
- Manage requirements traceability to test artifacts.
- Use Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) techniques to develop Operational and System Views.
- Support verification and validation, including writing test cases and producing Verification Cross Reference Matrices.
- Present status updates and conduct reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
- Take ownership of assigned deliverables and work products to meet program milestones.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Systems, Electrical, or Computer Engineering program, or a related scientific discipline at a recognized university.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated initiative and a track record of meeting commitments.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance.
- Preference is given to candidates with experience in requirements management, system diagramming, technical analysis, Agile ceremonies, or Systems Engineering standards.
- Familiarity with government customers or AI/ML models is considered an asset.

- Compensation: $24.92 - $33.23 per hour, with eligibility for quarterly increases.
