About the role#
Join the transportation team as a Traffic Engineering Intern. You will support real client projects, gain experience in design services, and receive mentorship from experienced professionals. This internship runs from mid-May through mid-August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Perform traffic analysis and design tasks for transportation projects.
- Assist with quantity and cost estimates.
- Help prepare project specifications.
- Check calculations, reports, and drawings for accuracy.
- Run traffic analysis models.
- Use CAD design software under supervision.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ABET-accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program in Civil Engineering with a focus on transportation.
- Demonstrated interest in traffic engineering through prior work, internships, or coursework.
- Basic understanding of traffic engineering principles.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or MicroStation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Willingness to learn from and communicate with experienced staff.
- Ability to obtain federal security clearance.
- Experience with Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, or VISSIM software is preferred.
- Familiarity with GIS software like ArcGIS Pro or qGIS is preferred.

- Compensation: $21.00 - $28.00 per hour, depending on experience.
