About the role#
As an Additive Engineering Intern, you will help develop and scale advanced metal 3D printing processes. You will work alongside mechanical, electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to support print development for high-volume production. Interns own projects from start to finish, using first-principles thinking to define problems, test solutions, and iterate on designs.
What you'll do#
- Own a project that delivers impact to print factory capabilities or customer workflows.
- Support all stages of print development, including design feedback, file preparation, printing, post-processing, and quality control.
- Analyze in-situ data and post-print part quality to improve system performance.
- Define test methods, evaluate solutions, and provide technical recommendations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program for mechanical or aerospace engineering at an ABET accredited university.
- Hands-on design experience from internships or engineering clubs like FSAE, Baja SAE, rocket clubs, or robotics teams.
- A strong grasp of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
- Ability to use first-principles thinking to solve problems.
It is helpful if you have experience with metal 3D printing, process development, DFM, GD&T, or CNC machining. Proficiency in MATLAB or similar scripting tools for toolpath generation is also a plus. We value strong communicators who collaborate well across disciplines and show a willingness to take ownership of tasks.
