About the role#
As a Process Engineering Intern, you will help refine processes for advanced metal 3D printing systems. You will work with experienced engineers to study complex, multi-physics behavior within the printing process. Your work will involve collaborating with mechanical, software, and simulation teams to analyze large data sets and material characteristics. This role is a full-time, on-site position based in Los Angeles for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist the team in understanding metal additive processes and hardware operation by analyzing massive in-situ data sets.
- Execute experiments and analyze data to improve metal additive processes.
- Perform post-build metrology measurements to analyze material properties like tensile strength, surface roughness, and alloy microstructure.
- Assist in developing and implementing tool qualification procedures.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in material science, physics, or an engineering discipline such as Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical, Biomedical, or Computer Science.
- Experience with experimental design and statistical data analysis.
- Strong data analysis skills and the ability to interpret information from large data sets.
- Experience with Python or MATLAB.
- A desire to improve the state of metal 3D printing.
