About the role#
This internship focuses on materials chemistry testing, analysis, and documentation for Folia Materials. You will support the development of our paper coating technology through hands-on laboratory research and product qualification. This is a paid, on-site position based in Waltham, Massachusetts, for the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Conduct laboratory R&D to investigate and characterize the properties of novel coating materials.
- Perform product testing, including sample preparation, visual inspections, and the use of analytical instruments.
- Manage and organize testing, characterization, and inspection data reports to support our Quality Management System.
- Prioritize daily tasks and manage multiple requests while maintaining consistent rigor in your laboratory work.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from an associate, bachelor's, or master's degree program in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, or Sociology.
- Experience working in a laboratory setting, including operating equipment and maintaining records.
- Ability to synthesize findings into clear, succinct reports and presentations.
- Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with cellulosic materials, pulp, paper, or textiles is helpful.

- Location: Waltham, Massachusetts.
- Schedule: 20 to 40 hours per week, starting September 2026.
- Work Modality: On-site only. No virtual work is available.
