About the role#
Folia Materials is hiring Culinary Science Interns for the Summer 2026 and Fall 2026 terms. You will work with our plant-based, microwave-safe paper packaging to test how it impacts frozen food quality. This is a paid, full-time, on-site role based in Waltham, Massachusetts.
What you'll do#
- Screen frozen food products to find candidates for our microwave packaging.
- Run culinary tests and measure temperatures during microwave cooking.
- Perform sensory evaluations to report on changes in taste, texture, and quality.
- Create product demos for internal use and client meetings.
- Use lab and food testing equipment to gather quantitative and qualitative data.
- Document your testing procedures and results clearly.
What you'll need#
- Current student or recent graduate in culinary science, culinology, food science, or a related field, or professional chef experience.
- Ability to work on-site in Waltham and live in the Boston metro area.
- A methodical approach to work and comfort with repetitive testing.
- Experience with frozen foods, product development, or sensory analysis is a plus.
