About the role#
As a Development Engineering Intern, you will join our team to support the evaluation and characterization of materials used in solar cell and module production. This is a paid, full-time position for the Fall 2026 term. You will work on-site in Perrysburg, Ohio, where you will gain hands-on experience by contributing to material trials and validation studies.
What you'll do#
- Conduct laboratory experiments to test material properties like optical performance, thermal stability, UV resistance, and electrical performance.
- Collect, analyze, and document data to support ongoing material research.
- Work alongside engineers and scientists to find ways to improve material performance and production processes.
- Write technical reports and prepare presentations to summarize your findings and recommendations for the leadership team.
- Assist with the maintenance of laboratory equipment while following all safety protocols.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program (Sophomore to Senior level) in Materials Science, Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Completion of general chemistry coursework, including at least one laboratory course.
- A solid understanding of material properties and common characterization techniques.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience collecting data in a laboratory or academic setting.
- Prior experience in a research laboratory is preferred, as is familiarity with programming languages like Python or data analysis tools like JMP.

- Compensation: $22.00 to $25.00 per hour.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 58 pounds, stand or walk for up to 12 hours, and wear required personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, respirators, and steel-toed shoes.
