About the role#
As a Commercial Banking Intern at First Bank & Trust, you will gain hands-on experience in the fundamentals of commercial and business lending. This role offers exposure to the day-to-day operations of a financial institution, including credit administration, Business Solutions, Cash Management, and Wealth Management Services. You will work on-site and participate in projects that support our lending teams.
What you'll do#
- Analyze smaller commercial credits and assess creditworthiness and cash flow.
- Assist in preparing underwriting information and risk rating credit lines for Loan Committee review.
- Participate in interviewing loan applicants and observe meetings with customers.
- Learn about various loan types, products, and banking systems.
- Develop professional relationships across the bank to support product and service offerings.
- Complete special projects and attend loan meetings as assigned.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and follow all bank policies, procedures, and compliance training requirements.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least three years of business-related coursework in a higher learning setting, or equivalent experience.
- Strong attention to detail and clear communication skills.
- A self-motivated approach and a genuine interest in learning all aspects of commercial banking.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service.
Location & details#
- This is a part-time, paid internship.
- The role is based on-site in Roseville, MN, or Edina, MN.
- Hiring is conducted on a rolling basis.
