About the role#
The Field Engineer Internship is a full-time, on-site position focused on learning the fundamentals of turbine and generator product lines. Interns work under the guidance of experienced Field Engineers and Technical Field Advisors to support engineering projects of varying scope and complexity. This role requires a commitment to travel and the ability to work full-time hours, including potential holidays, weekends, and overtime as dictated by field assignments.
What you'll do#
- Complete interactive web-based training on turbine and generator products and mandatory environmental, health, and safety protocols.
- Assist Event Managers and Field Engineers with project pre-planning, execution, and post-execution tasks.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, expedite shop repair activities, and facilitate critical parts orders for outage fulfillment.
- Track and execute customer warranty claims on assigned equipment.
- Gain hands-on experience with the maintenance and repair of large frame size gas and steam turbines.
- Research and prepare engineering drawing packages and spare parts lists.
- Support job sites remotely or on-site to expedite resources and third-party supplier needs.
- Collaborate with project controls advisors to learn cost tracking, receiving, and invoicing practices.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a university degree in Engineering or Engineering Technologies, including Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Software, Systems, or Aviation.
- Must be a current student intending to return to in-class studies following the completion of the work term.
- Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time.
