Field Engineer Internship

About the role#

The Field Engineer Intern will learn the fundamentals of Turbine and Generator products under the guidance of experienced Field Engineers and Technical Field Advisors. This full-time, on-site internship supports Resource and Event Managers on engineering projects of varying scope and complexity. The position requires a commitment to travel and the ability to work full-time hours during academic breaks.

What you'll do#

• Complete interactive web-based training on Turbine and Generator product lines, as well as required environmental, health, and safety certifications.
• Develop proficiency in FieldCore web-based technical applications.
• Learn project management fundamentals, including scheduling, resource loading, and cost control to support onsite project execution.
• Assist with project pre-planning, execution, and post-execution tasks, such as coordinating subcontractors, expediting shop repairs, facilitating parts orders, and tracking customer warranty claims.
• Research and prepare engineering drawing packages and spare parts lists.
• Provide remote and on-site support to job sites to expedite parts, third-party suppliers, and other resources.
• Gain experience with the maintenance and repair of large frame size gas and steam turbines.
• Collaborate with project control advisors to learn cost tracking, receiving, and invoicing practices.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a university degree program in Engineering or Engineering Technologies, including Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Software, Systems, or Aviation.
• Status as a student who will return to in-class studies upon completion of the work term.
• Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time.
• Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as required by field assignments.
