About the role#
The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is hiring for its 2027 Summer Internship Program within Business Technology. This is a full-time, paid opportunity designed for students to gain experience while supporting our mission to promote a stable financial system. You will work in a hybrid environment and participate in a structured program that includes networking across the Federal Reserve System, leadership Q&A sessions, and a dedicated mentor program.
What you'll do#
Your specific responsibilities will depend on your assigned team, which may include Treasury, Product Ownership, Security Compliance, Statistics, Policy Analysis, or Data Science. Core tasks include:
- Evaluate databases in AWS environments to assist with documentation.
- Work on advanced data matching procedures and pipelines.
- Act as a Jr. Product Owner in a scrum team, contributing to Jira and Confluence by logging stories and updating artifacts.
- Assist with software security reviews, access changes, and content creation.
- Analyze reports and support system workgroups, automation tools, or queries.
- Perform data analytics and research topics for policy briefs.
- Develop code to fulfill data requests.
- Apply Machine Learning techniques to foundational data science tasks.
What you'll need#
We are looking for currently enrolled students with a background or interest in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Economics. You should possess:
- Computer programming skills, awareness, or interest.
- An interest in using new technologies for coding and documentation.
- For Data Science roles, proficiency in Python, R, and SQL is required, along with an interest in Machine Learning and GenAI.
- For Policy Analyst roles, an interest in banking and economics is ideal.
Location & details#
- Location: St. Louis, Missouri (Hybrid).
- Term: 9 weeks, from June 7th to August 6th, 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time, 35 hours per week.
