About the role#
As an Agronomy Intern, you will connect classroom knowledge to field work. You will learn to identify weeds, diseases, and insects that affect crop growth. You will also gain experience testing soil and plant nutrients while helping analyze reports used to make crop input recommendations. This role involves general operations work and providing customer service to growers.
What you'll do#
- Inspect assigned grower fields to identify weeds, insects, diseases, and crop population counts.
- Document observations using crop scouting software and weekly reports to share with your partnered field agronomist.
- Keep current on agronomic products, trends, and precision agriculture technologies.
- Support operations and warehouse staff as needed.
- Uphold cooperative policies and enforce the credit policy.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing an associate or bachelor degree.
- A valid, unrestricted driver license.
- Experience with farm equipment is preferred.
- Ability to work extended hours during peak busy seasons.
- Ability to move, lift, and carry boxes, tubs, and tools weighing 50-60 lbs.
- Ability to access and use farm equipment and traverse uneven ground.
- Strong communication, writing, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work without direct supervision, manage time, and prioritize projects.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing business surroundings and a collaborative approach to problem solving.
