About the role#
F.N.B. Corporation is seeking a motivated intern to join our enterprise data engineering and architecture technology team. This role is designed for a student interested in applying machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques to solve problems within the financial services sector. You will contribute to projects involving fraud detection, credit risk, customer segmentation, and operational efficiency.
What you'll do#
- Build and validate machine learning models for banking use cases, including risk scoring and transaction classification.
- Prepare datasets for modeling by working with structured and unstructured data from internal banking systems.
- Support the deployment of models in on-premises environments using Python, Docker, and internal APIs.
- Collaborate with data engineers, business analysts, and compliance teams to ensure models meet regulatory and operational standards.
- Document model development processes, assumptions, and performance metrics.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and troubleshooting of deployed models.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Accounting, or Marketing.
- Familiarity with Python and machine learning libraries such as Scikit-learn, Pandas, and NumPy.
- Basic understanding of machine learning concepts and supervised or unsupervised learning techniques.
- Exposure to version control tools like Git and containerization tools like Docker.
- Ability to work in a secure, regulated environment with a focus on data privacy and compliance.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
