About the role#
Essentia Health offers a paid education benefit of $20,000 for surgical technologist students. In exchange, you commit to working at St. Mary's Medical Center for two years after graduation. This is a full-time position requiring 36 hours of work per week.
What you'll do#
- Provide technical interventions for patients of all ages in the operating room under the supervision of an RN.
- Manage instrumentation, equipment, prosthesis, and supplies.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the department.
- Work a rotating schedule that includes every fourth weekend and a holiday rotation.
- Follow shift patterns of 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, 10:00 am to 6:30 pm, or 11:00 pm to 7:30 am, including approximately four night shifts every four weeks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Surgical Technologist program. Note that online certificate programs and prerequisite courses do not qualify.
- AHA Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, which you must obtain within one month of hire.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist is preferred.
