About the role#
ESP Associates is hiring a Hazard Mitigation and Resilience Planner intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will work with our planning team on projects for state, local, and Tribal clients. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Morrisville, North Carolina.
What you'll do#
- Provide technical assistance for hazard mitigation and resilience projects.
- Collect and analyze data to conduct risk and capability assessments.
- Develop strategies for hazard mitigation and resilience plans.
- Summarize your findings and prepare reports.
- Facilitate planning meetings, workshops, and public sessions.
- Coordinate with participating jurisdictions, State Emergency Management Offices, and FEMA.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an undergraduate program in Planning or a related field.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience preparing plans or reports.
- Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.
- A satisfactory driving record.
- An eagerness to learn and a positive attitude.
- Preferred: Experience with GIS or an understanding of federal and state hazard mitigation programs.
