About the role#
We are hiring a Survey Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This full-time, paid position offers students in civil engineering, geomatics, and related fields a chance to work alongside survey professionals. You will gain hands-on experience in both field operations and office procedures within a multi-discipline firm.
What you'll do#
- Learn the fundamentals of boundary and topographic land surveying.
- Participate in field activities using GPS technology, optical measurements, and differential leveling.
- Follow safety procedures, traffic control protocols, and use personal protective equipment.
- Research record documents including deeds, easements, and subdivision plats to support field boundary surveys.
- Resolve boundaries using accepted principles and best practices.
- Read construction plans to generate points for construction crews.
- Manage AutoCAD drawings to create field points and generate cutsheets for excavation and construction teams.
- Identify utility types and field markers.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an engineering, surveying technology, geomatics, or related program.
- A strong desire to learn and the ability to work well in a team.
- Good oral and written communication skills with high attention to detail.
- A positive attitude and the ability to follow directions.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and field environments, such as construction zones or thick foliage.
- Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.
- A satisfactory driving record.
