    About the role#

    The Safety and Loss Control intern will work directly with consultants to assess work sites and identify potential hazards. This is a full-time summer internship based in Charleston, West Virginia, requiring at least 40 hours per week. You will assist in evaluating policyholder safety efforts and developing solutions to improve workplace conditions. This role operates on a hybrid schedule.

    What you'll do#

    • Run loss reports and research the history of policyholders.
    • Review previous safety and loss control documentation.
    • Accompany consultants on job-site visits to identify hazards.
    • Prepare reports that include recommendations for reducing losses.
    • Analyze injury and accident patterns to help develop cost-effective safety methods.
    • Research relevant laws, standards, and technical literature to provide effective solutions for employers.
    • Assist with the creation of training presentations.

    What you'll need#

    • Completion of at least 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.
    • Active enrollment in a degree program focused on safety, industrial hygiene, or engineering.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
    • Ability to compile, analyze, and report on findings.
    • Knowledge of Federal OSHA and MSHA standards.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    • Compensation: $18 per hour.
