About the role#
Empower is offering a 10-week summer internship for students interested in a career in actuarial science. This program provides hands-on experience in financial services through project work, mentorship, and exposure to senior leadership. You will work alongside experienced actuaries on business initiatives and present your findings at the end of the program.
What you'll do#
- Support actuarial modeling, financial reporting, and strategic analysis.
- Contribute to model enhancements and internal reporting tools.
- Assist teams with data validation, assumption setting, and trend analysis.
- Help with valuation, forecasting, and regulatory deliverables.
- Apply your academic coursework to real business decisions.
- Complete both individual and group projects.
- Develop technical skills and learn the systems and workflows used across the company.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program with at least two years of academic progress.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25.
- Availability for the full 10-week program from June 2, 2027, to August 6, 2027.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills and a critical thinking mindset.
- Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team.
- A proactive approach to learning and professional curiosity.
- Graduation and availability for full-time employment by mid-2028.
- Preferred majors include Mathematics and Statistics.
- Preference is given to candidates with passage of one or more Society of Actuaries exams, or knowledge of SQL, programming languages, finance, or actuarial fields.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site internship based in Hartford, Connecticut.
- You must reside near or be able to reliably commute to the Hartford office.
