About the role#
Emery Sapp & Sons is looking for a Mechanic Intern to join our equipment team for the summer of 2027. You will work alongside experienced mechanics and technicians to gain hands-on experience with heavy equipment, trucks, and trailers. This role helps you build a technical foundation for a career in the construction industry.
What you'll do#
- Assist mechanics with routine maintenance and repair work on company equipment.
- Observe and participate in diagnosing equipment issues to identify problems and solutions.
- Help perform preventative maintenance tasks to support equipment performance.
- Maintain equipment reports, maintenance logs, and metrics.
- Learn and follow safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with mechanics, equipment managers, and field staff.
- Participate in identifying opportunities to improve maintenance and repair processes.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a relevant degree or technical program, such as Diesel or Heavy Equipment Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or Construction Management.
- High school diploma or equivalent with a strong interest in the field.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems, tools, and equipment is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well in a team and adapt to a hands-on setting.
- A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn.
- Comfort working in both outdoor field and shop environments.
- Legal eligibility to work in the United States.
