About the role#
As a Modernization Intern, you will work with industry experts to help customers update legacy automation systems. You will gain hands-on experience by supporting projects that involve digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and competitive market analysis. This role is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Round Rock, Texas.
What you'll do#
- Research market trends, competitor activities, and modernization strategies.
- Develop competitive insights, executive summaries, and customer-focused recommendations.
- Assist in the development and evaluation of AI-enabled tools for migration planning.
- Contribute to initiatives involving machine learning, large language models, and intelligent engineering workflows.
- Support the creation and validation of AI-generated outputs against engineering standards.
- Participate in customer projects by supporting system assessments and technology evaluations.
- Assist with the development of engineering deliverables, including modernization roadmaps, architecture diagrams, and business cases.
- Support laboratory demonstrations and proof-of-concept initiatives.
- Configure and test automation hardware, software, and virtualized environments.
- Create dashboards and data visualizations to communicate project insights.
- Research emerging technologies like Industrial AI, Digital Twins, cloud computing, and industrial cybersecurity.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chemical, Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, or Artificial Intelligence.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and contribute to a team.
- Interest in industrial automation, digital transformation, or technology modernization.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
- Preferred: Currently pursuing a master's degree in a relevant field.
- Preferred: Experience with Python, SQL, software development, or data analytics tools.
- Preferred: Familiarity with AI, machine learning, and large language models.
- Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, Power BI, Azure, or related digital technologies.
- Preferred: Knowledge of industrial networking, cybersecurity, or virtualization.
