About the role#
This full-time Mechanical Engineering Co-op position offers hands-on experience in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. You will work alongside experienced engineers to support new product development and improvement projects. This role allows you to apply classroom knowledge to real-world engineering challenges while exploring various disciplines within the field.
What you'll do#
- Partner with a lead mechanical engineer to support product development and improvement initiatives.
- Create computer-aided design (CAD) models and engineering drawings.
- Build and evaluate prototypes using 3D printing and machining technologies.
- Execute prototype testing to evaluate performance, durability, and environmental requirements.
- Apply engineering principles to practical projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support engineering objectives and milestones.
- Gain exposure to multiple engineering disciplines.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with junior or senior standing preferred.
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) on-site from January 2027 through August 2027.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Strong interest in product design, development, testing, and engineering problem solving.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills.
- Experience or coursework involving CAD software, with SolidWorks knowledge preferred.
- Familiarity with machining processes, 3D printing, material properties, and materials science fundamentals.
- Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Exposure to MATLAB, finite element analysis, or simulation tools like Ansys Workbench.
- Experience gained through academic projects, student organizations, research, laboratory work, or internships.
